a) A four hour car trip with a two month old little girl who HATES her car seat
b) Following that horribly long car ride, taking this same two month old little girl to a two hour soccer game in a VERY noisy stadium full of soccer-fanatic Mexicans.
Dread quickly set in...
Then I remembered my mom telling me that my kids live with ME. She said that kids never stopped her and my dad from doing things. They just carted us along. There are numerous photos of me as a toddler in several different locations in Germany. But, Mom, I was a TODDLER not TWO MONTHS OLD!!!
Oh well, credit card has been charged...better make the best of it. Aaron will probably have to sit by himself most of the game.
So, we took off Thursday morning and headed towards Houston. She left with a full tank in her belly and sleep on the horizon. She was passed out asleep before we hit the Mississippi River bridge. She slept almost the entire trip. Construction outside of Houston stopped us dead in our tracks and stirred the sleeping giant. Construction!!! But, it wasn't that bad. We just made a pit stop for a bottle, a good burp, and dry diaper. An hour nap was granted at the hotel then off to dinner. She slept on my shoulder. Next, soccer game an hour early to catch warm-ups. She slept in her Baby Bjorn. Bottle feeding in the bleachers. She sat on my lap, sucked her thumb and took in all the sites. She slept in my lap. First Dynamo goal: she's awake. Went to the concession stand to get a Coke. Returned to the bleachers. She sat on my lap and watched the jumbo-tron. Another Dynamo goal: she cries. A small walk around the stadium: she fell asleep on my shoulder. Two more Dynamo goals (one a penalty kick): she stayed asleep. Game over, walk to the car: still sleeping. Drive to the hotel: awake and happy...staring and talking to her buddy, Mr. Jingles, the dangling rabbit on her car seat. Pull into the hotel, she starts crying. Cries, eats, and goes to bed at 10:30 pm. Doesn't wake up until 11:00 am the next morning!
Thank you sweet baby Calyn for letting mommy and daddy enjoy a soccer game together...and... my mom was right.
P.S. The ride home wasn't nearly as pleasurable, but it WAS bearable.

I just have to add that this is prime traveling time for Calyn...a toddler is MUCH more difficult to manage! So glad it turned out well, what a blast. Your Mom gave good advice. Loving all the updates.
Is that Tadayeski?
Yep!
Thanks for the amazing father's day present. That was a good time, and Calyn was a champion. Love you dude.
